I fell in love.
each time I travel.
Travelling is one of the channels which allows you to know yourself a little bit more. This is what I felt when I was walking in the beautiful capital, Wroclaw. Despite the glorious side of it, you get to eat local cuisines, fascinate over beautiful streets and buildings, immerse yourself in the culture of that particular country, watching how locals live their lives on a daily basis, no one has ever shown the flip side of the story while travelling.
I would not say that I fell in love with the back story because of the sleepless nights, the feeling of anxiety when double checking your documents, and also the long and exhausting trips to and from the airport or city. However, it makes me think that these are the scarce beauty of a journey. The back stories are the ones often forgotten. Most of us care about reaching the destination, but sometimes it is worth looking at the journey before that.
Just a few months ago, I was one of the list tickers before I travel. I will literally search on web for places to visit or places that caught my eye and put it on the list or try to fit it into my very packed schedule. Not to say that it is not favourable, but at that time I didn't know the meaning of travel for myself. All I knew was to hit the popular spots or take photos of well-known buildings and rushing in order to implement my tight schedule. I then realised slowly that this is not what I wanted.
People judge you for being a spot hopper.
Because they don't know you are trying to make the most out of your trip.
I am writing this not to judge spot hoppers, because I used to be one of them. But to send the message to travellers and wanderers (if you feel like calling yourself that) out there that finding what you enjoy the most when travelling is the best way to make the most for your trip. If you like spot hopping, do that, if you like to do museums hopping, do that, if you like to take tubes/subways/undergrounds around that city, do that.
Find something you enjoy doing while travelling, and that is what is all about.
I'm glad that I found mine.
